Arachova, nestled on the slopes of Mount Parnassos, offers a unique perspective of Greece with its snowy winters and lush summer landscapes. This picturesque town, one of Greece’s highest, is accessible via the GR-48 highway, connecting it with Amfissa and Livadeia. Known for its refreshing escape from summer heat and its vibrant winter ski resort, Arachova was initially famous for its proximity to Delphi. Now, it’s renowned for its own charm and the Parnassos ski resort, located just 24 km away.
The Parnassos ski center, operational from December to May, is the region’s main attraction. It caters to winter sports enthusiasts with well-organized facilities, while the village itself blends ancient and modern Greece with its shops and cafes. Surrounding Arachova are sweeping grasslands and rocky landscapes, enhancing the feeling of being in nature’s cradle.
Skiing, although not commonly associated with Greece, has been popular at Parnassos since 1976.
The resort, spread across multiple mountains, offers diverse slopes and facilities. It features 13 lifts, including 6 airlifts and 7 sliding lifts, and can accommodate many visitors, providing ample entertainment and services.
Kelaria, established in 1981, boasts 15 tracks and 23 lifts, catering to both beginners and experienced skiers. Fterolakka, connected in 1988, features 6 aerial lifts, 6 tow lifts, a four-seater cabin, and 2 learner lifts, with slopes totaling 14 km in length. Gerondovrachos, though smaller, offers 3 lifts and 4 downhill runs, along with a playground for children.
